A short follow-up on the events that transpired that day celebrating the diva's 70th birthday: Reports from Europe indicate that Caballe had a wonderful and busy day celebrating her 70th birthday, with a matinée concert in the afternoon with daughter Montserrat Marti, tenor Oscar Marin accompanied by Manuel Burgueras on the piano. As well, and true to her big heart and amazing generosity, Caballe sang in a private gala concert the same evening for 100 invited guests. The gala concert was a benefit for a 4-year old boy named Finn-Luca Eggert. It was reported that Finn-Luca was in a serious and tragic accident with his grandparents a year ago; the grandparents died, and Finn-Luca survived, but is currently paralyzed and is reliant on a breathing apparatus for survival. The boy and his parents visited with Caballe a day before the concert in the Hotel Interconti (?) in Hamburg. |
